PMI 2017 Conference: How do you see ‘Change’ in your business environment; is there any “change in the change” happening? (Like pace, amplitude, risk, etc)

Tuomas Paasonen: For an IT company change is in our DNA. As technology and its applications evolve, companies and their cultures need to adapt. For us the change in change is that change is not projects anymore. Change is constant and you need to adapt every day to new situations.

What has been the biggest personal ‘change’ or ‘change project’ in your career?

I’m an electronics engineer working in the HR of a software company. My career has quite a lot of big changes, but jumping from business unit to HR must be the biggest one. It has been a huge change in how my daily work looks like and what’s my point of view to the whole industry.

What is your motivation to be a speaker at the PMI Finland Conference?

I think Futurice has been successful in updating it’s core business and offering along with the industry. There’s a lot we have learned and we want to share our knowledge for the common good.

What key message would you like to address to the attendees of the PMI Finland Conference?

I think that the most important thing is to set yourself a goal, aim for it, and accept from day one that your goal will change before you’ll reach it.
