Mirjami Sipponen-Damonte: My buzzword is stakeholder engagement
We interviewed our conference speaker Mirjami Sipponen-Damonte about Growth and project management. Mirjami will tell us in the Conference how to ‘GROW as project manager through developing your facilitation skills’.
PMI Conference 2018: What is your motivation to be a speaker at the PMI Finland event?
As professional facilitator I work a lot with project managers and I have learnt to see how valuable and increasingly important the facilitation skills are in project management context. I am also Regional Director for Europe and Middle East in the International Association of Facilitators. Our mission is to promote the power of facilitation worldwide and speaking at the PMI event is a good opportunity to do that.
What key message would you like to address to the attendees of the PMI Finland Annual Conference?
Awareness on how developing facilitation skills can help project managers in many situations with their project teams and stakeholders and can contribute to the project success.
What is your buzzword in the world of project management?
My buzzword is stakeholder engagement 🙂
As we move from recessionary period to Growth period, what are the different expectations / challenges for leaders and project managers moving forward?
With the overall economic growth people retention becomes more crucial as good employees have more options. When a project manager has good facilitation skills people are more engaged and there is major focus in the work. Facilitation is increasingly important also because with the trend of digitalisation and robotisation organisations have become less vertical; there are more stakeholders that need to be involved and got on board already before the implementation phase. Project managers need to get support from different parts of the organisation, and even from outside, in order to succeed.
